Today’s Reflection: 4th Sunday of Advent

4th-sunday-of-adventAs this Advent Season opens into the upcoming glory of Christmas, we turn our attention to the tiny town of Bethlehem, “too small to be among the clans of Judah.”  It is in this small town that the Son of God will be born to save the world.  We also ponder the person of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a young girl who would bear this Son of God in her womb.  A small town and a seemingly insignificant young Jewish girl show us that God’s plans include each and every one of us, the weak and strong, rich and poor, the healthy and the ill.  As Christmas dawns, let us be joyfully vigilant, waiting for the Lord to break into our lives bringing salvation, justice and peace.

How have we seen the Lord’s presence breaking into our lives, especially in moments of weakness?
