Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

23rd sunday“Who can know God’s counsel, or who can conceive what the Lord intends?” These opening words of today’s first reading describe what should be our approach to the Liturgy of the Word.  The words both challenge and comfort us.  This Gospel challenges us to keep our priorities in order by steadfastly following Christ and taking up our crosses.  We will use our resources for the good of God’s people, which is challenging.  Today, we pray for strength to respond to God’s call.

How can you “carry” your cross so that you can be a true disciple of Jesus?
