Learning About Sea Life

Learning About Sea Life

By Mrs. Julie O’Conner, 3A Teacher Aide

learning about sealife

Thank you to Ms. Kandace & Ms. Sandra from Sea Life Park’s Outreach Program who came to help educate our students in grades 1-4 on various marine animals housed at the park such as a blind monk seal, Humboldt penguins who like warm weather, the famous one of a kind wholphin named Kekaimalu and of course, the honu to name a few. We were fortunate to be able to touch shark’s jaws & teeth, a stingray’s tail bone, a whale’s tooth, and turtle shells.

The power point presentation also taught us about marine debris and its effects on our environment, ways to prevent debris from entering the ocean, and instilling within us responsibility to be stewards of the land and sea.
