St. Ann Model Schools Celebrated Pi Day

The entire school celebrated Pi Day as the 7th graders went to lower levels to explain this special Math day with a mini lesson and activity.

Pi day 1

Pi is a special number in math that is never ending and never repeats.  That mean the number goes on forever and ever!  The first couple of digits of pi is 3.14159.  Every year on March 14th (3/14) we celebrate pi.  But this year is Epic Pi Day because if you round pi to the ten thousandths place value, you get 3.1416 (3/14/16).  We use pi  in order to find the area and circumference of a circle.

Pi day 2

Because this year we have Epic Pi Day, the entire school learned about pi and created bracelets.  Each color of the bracelet represented a number in pi.  They also celebrated Pi Day with some pie!  What a math filled day we had!
