Celebrating Catholic Schools Week 2016 II
Congratulations to our top donors, 2nd grader, Elvis Miller and 6th grader, Kahiau Chang who each collected $200 for the walk-a-thon.
Mr. Foster and the St. Ann Choir, made up of third and fourth graders gave a stellar performance at Windward Mall on Tuesday. The students sang whole-heartedly and moved the audience with their singing and dancing. They did a superb job of representing St. Ann Model Schools.
On Wednesday, the sixth grade class ministered at our Catholic Schools Week Mass. Author’s Day followed with classes pairing up and sharing their published pieces with each other.
Thursday of Catholic Schools Week was a delicious and fun day. On this day, students partook in an ethnic luncheon potluck. Students brought something representing their ethnic background to share at lunch.
The spread was phenomenal as we toured the world with dishes from Japan, China, Portugal, Greece, Vietnam and the Phillipines just to name a few!
That afternoon, students gathered for a Talent Show. Isabella Linhares of 5A showed her athleticism by demonstrating the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira. Dancing for our pleasure were 3rd graders Olivia Tupou and Katelyn Nakagawa who performed “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and 4th graders, Emma Pasa, Taylor Tagal and Brynn Castello performed to “Shake It Off.” Fifth grader, Trinity Inman executed wonderful choreography to the tune “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
Singing a Greek song selection from her church’s choir was Miabella Naval of 3A. Rounding off our student performers were Michelle Matsuda, Taiyo Kaaialii, Larissa Polendey, Sarah Tamashiro and Adam Dillon who showed off their amazing poi ball skills with “Hoki Hoki.”
Not to be outdone, members of St. Ann faculty and staff stepped up to the plate and got the food court jumping with a mini concert featuring Uptown Funk (St. Ann style!) and praise and worship songs.
Friday was a day off for students as teachers attended the Annual Conference for Catholic Educators. Congratulations to Early Learning Center Director, Mrs. Cindy Achong who was recognized at the conference for her 20 years of service to Catholic education!
